1. [Space] JAXA selects Astroscale for CRD2 program
Astroscale Japan Inc. (“Astroscale Japan”) announced that it has been selected
by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) as the commercial partner
for Phase II of JAXA’s Commercial Removal of Debris Demonstration (CRD2) program,
one of the world’s first technology demonstrations of removing large-scale debris from orbit.
The CRD2 program aims to remove an unprepared Japanese upper stage rocket body,
thereby addressing the increasingly critical issue of space debris.
Unprepared objects in orbit pose an additional challenge
as they have not been prepared with any technologies that enable docking
or potential servicing or removal.
2. [Air] Saab delivers 4th AEW&C aircraft to UAE
Saab announced the delivery of 4th GlobalEye Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C)
aircraft to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), which took place on April 18.
The previous deliveries of three GlobalEye to the UAE were made in 2020 and 2021.
The UAE has ordered a total of five GlobalEye aircraft from Saab, with the initial contract
signed in 2015 and an order for two additional aircraft in 2021.

- 독일 Rheinmetall사는 호주의 자회사에서 Boxer 장갑차를 생산하여 독일군에 납품 예정
4. [Korea] Ecuador signs MOU to receive 3,000-ton ship from Korea Coast Guard
The Korea Coast Guard (KCG) announced that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)
with Ecuadorian Ministry of Defense for the transfer of a 3,000-ton ship, KCG3001, to Ecuador.
Ecuadorian Minister of Defense Giancarlo Loffredo signed the MoU when he visited KCG HQ in Korea,
on April 25. Defense Minister also visited a shipyard to tour the KCG3001, located in Mokpo, t
he southern part of Korea.
5. [Defense] U.S. announces new security assistance for Ukraine
Following the passage of the national security supplemental which the President signed into law,
the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) announced a significant new security assistance
on April 24 to urgently meet Ukraine's critical security and defense needs.
This announcement is the Biden Administration's fifty-sixth tranche of equipment
to be provided from DoD inventories to Ukraine since August 2021.
